The Treaty of St Germain

Back to Austrian Stamps Homepage

The Treaty of St Germain, which ended WWI as far as Austria was concerned, is available on line in several different language versions. A parallel-text French and German version is in the Austrian Staatsgesetzblatt for 1920, pp 995-1245, beginning here: http://alex.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/alex?aid=sgb&datum=1920&size=45&page=1077. Note that it's images of pages, not text. The navigation arrows are in the top right corner.

An English page-image version (10Mb) exists on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office database, here: http://treaties.fco.gov.uk/docs/pdf/1919/TS0011.pdf/

The accompanying (10Mb) map is here: http://treaties.fco.gov.uk/docs/pdf/1919/TS0011-1.pdf. The image may jump up and down as it's loading. It was this map that had to be used to determine the 'nationality' of Otzi the iceman!

The Australian Treaties database has a plain-text version here: http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/sinodisp/au/other/dfat/treaties/1920/3.html. You lose the layout but it's searchable, and a much smaller file
